Equal Employment Opportunity

The basic principle behind equal employment opportunity is that everyone should have the same access to opportunities.  The core of diversity and affirmative action policies and practices is for Equal access to full participation.

Equal employment opportunity means to provide equal access and opportunity to anyone who qualifies, regardless of sex, race, age, color, religion, mental or physical disability, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression and/or military status. Covered groups cannot be excluded from participation of employment opportunities.

What is the tie that binds diversity management, affirmative action and equal employment opportunity?

Policies and practices that level the playing field for:
  • A diverse workforce
  • Work environment free from discrimination
  • Work environment more accessible and equitable for all through Reasonable Accommodations
  • Inclusive environment where all employees are valued, therefore more productive
